Vision 2020 is the national peak body for eye health and vision care.
We bring together more than 50 member organisations that span the full spectrum of the sector, from research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, to representation, services for people who are blind or have low vision, and advocacy in key areas such as education, employment and social inclusion.
As the only mechanism in Australia that enables collaboration across the entire eye-health and vision-care ecosystem, we provide a unified and consistent voice to governments, stakeholders and the private sector.

Our Vision

What We Do
We articulate and reflect the collective views of the vision-care sector, advocating for policies and practices that improve equity, access and participation for all.
We engage proactively with government, public and private sectors to influence policy, inform funding and drive systemic change.
We are committed to cultural respect and inclusion — working in partnership with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and organisations, and guided by people with lived experience of blindness or low vision.
We also engage on the international stage: collaborating with global aid entities so that vision and eye health are recognised as critical international development priorities.

What We Do
We prioritise communication: building awareness about eye health and vision care across the sector and among the general public.
We generate, aggregate and disseminate evidence: drawing attention to gaps and opportunities in service delivery, participation, and inclusion for people with vision impairment.
We amplify diverse voices, including those of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples and individuals with lived experience: ensuring our advocacy and messaging reflect real lived realities.
We collaborate closely with our members: building on their work to strengthen the collective capacity of the eye-health sector.
Why It Matters
By uniting diverse stakeholders under one national umbrella, Vision 2020 creates a more cohesive, effective and equitable vision-care system. In doing so, we help narrow access gaps, embed eye health within broader health and social supports, and enable full participation in society for people who are blind or have low vision.
